MAC - Daphne Guinness & Mineralize

I recently Made some purchases from the new limited edition MAC range by Daphne Guinness. This collection is the first glimpse of the winter collection created and inspired by an artist and collector of haute couture. Daphne Guinness 'A window into my inspiration' I also indulged in some new mineralize concealer.

BLUSH OMBRE

I brought the Blush Ombre in Azalea Blossom and all i can say is WOW the colours are meant to be for the winter collection but i think they are more suited for spring!. Both colours compliment each other and when mixed together it just leaves a tint of a pinky purple on your cheeks.

(Sorry about there not being a swatch the lighting in my room in atrocious)

NAIL LACQUER

The nail lacquer i got is in shade blueblood, its a very deep red/purple and i absolutely love it. The great thing about these nail varnishes is that the formulation contains conditioners and UV protection. It is long wearing and after a day of wear (washing, cleaning, tydiing etc) it still looks the same from when i put it on. Definatley recommend. £9.00 and they have two other shades to match the collection. 8/10

MINERALIZE CONCEALER

So i really don't recommend buying foundations/ concealours online but as i already knew my shade i just went one lighter. The reason i go for one lighter is because i get dark circles under my eyes and the lighter colour evens it out. I find the lighter shade also hides, redness, spots and blemishes. This is from the mineralize perfectly finished collection and all their products are enriched with minerals.

I currently use collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer which every blogger/youtuber raves about. don't get me wrong its a good concealer, but i tend to get dry skin around my eyes so i find it ends up creasing and just doesn't look nice, So i was glad to try something different.

The mineralize concealer is perfect for me it has enough coverage without it looking cakey, it just looks natural. It is long lasting which i can't say for collection 2000 but thats just my view and i feel that the mineralize concealer leaves my skin feeling moisturised. 9/10

imPRESS Manicure

imPRESS Manicure

imPRESS Manicure by Broadway Nails is a new product of stick-on-nails to hit the shops in America (you can find out where here)! They haven't yet come to England nor do they have an online shop, so i am intrigued to test out this new product. If you read my blog you will have seen that these nails arrived in my February Glossy Box which you can look at here. I was really unsure about these when they arrived as i imagined myself back as a 10 year old buying £1 stick on nails with my pocket money and i thought to myself they never worked back then surely they can't work now! So i was really disappointed to find out i had this item in my Glossy Box especially because these products are meant to be luxury!. I hate to say it but i was wrong.. Read on for how to apply and my final verdict.

I have them in shade 'D080 Working Girl' I actually really like the crackled effect as they really stand out from the crowd. The packaging is ok, i wouldn't necessarily say it looks like a luxury brand and to be honest i probably wouldn't even notice them on the shelf in a shop, although i do like the way the nails come in a fake nail varnish bottle i thought that was quirky. They come with 24 different nail sizes, but if needed its best to use smaller sizes for best results.

APPLYING

1) Find the nails that best fit your own and line them up ready to apply
2) Using the prep pad cleanse your own nails, this allows a smooth base for them to be applied
3) Starting from the pinky, peel off the backing.
4) Apply to nail and press firmly down
5) Repeat for every nail & Voila you have your own manicure

Prepping and applying them was no problem at all, if you remember how to do them from when you were younger you can do it blindfolded! They are stupidly simple to apply and to my surprise they feel really strong on my nail like they have been glued on. I have currently been wearing them for a day not only do they feel strong but they also haven't even lifted. On the packaging they claim that if applied properly they will last up to a week, I can't see why not, Hopefully they do. The nails come at a hefty price of £17.40. I can't bring myself to pay that much because at the end of the day they are fake nails, i would much rather pay for clear ones and paint them myself. So unfortunately i won't be re-purchasing but if you are interested in buying it is a great product. 8/10

Elle - March Issue

I just wanted to do a little post about the March issue of Elle Magazine. I wasn't actually looking to buy a magazine but Elle caught my eye with their free gift, 'Soap & Glory - Think & Fast Mascara'. I was genuinely surprised with such a good gift because this mascara is £10 in Boots. I thought i would share this with everyone to tell you to go and buy Elle for this amazing gift.

Now for the review, Wow the brush is huge you can't really tell from the pictures but it is probably the 1/3 of the bottle and it is really fat. From past experiences I've never got on with big brushes because i like defined eyelashes. Don't get me wrong this is a really nice application, it gives loads of volume to your eyelashes and it isn't clumpy. I have found that it works best when using either a clean mascara brush afterwards or if your like me and love full lashes all the time, then i apply this mascara first and then elongate and define my eyelashes using Lash Accelerator by Rimmel. Would i buy this product?, No i wouldn't like i said i don't really like the size of the brush. Then again it is a great freebie in a magazine so if you haven't already got Elle, Go and buy it!

February Glossy Box

Back to the original pink box and it says on the leaflet that this is the fashion week edition and it comes with 5 fabulous essentials to keep you looking your fashionable best. There is also a card in there that says 'expect the unexpected mystery box check back to glossy box on the 24th.' I have been wondering what it could be? maybe a free box? who knows.

1)Duwop Venom Gloss

The first item is 'Duwop Venom Gloss in Buttercup' (5ml) the full size product is £16 (10.4ml). I am not a fan of lip gloss' so i wasn't that excited to try this product. Being called a lip venom you can probably guess by the name that it is a lip plumper so it tingles a little when applying. Afterwards however it is actually really nice its just a nude gloss so it would work well with pink lipsticks or on its own. Another factor i really like is it is not sticky and just moisturises the lip as far as lip plumping goes well it didn't really do anything apart from make my lips tingle.

2) Impress Press-On Manicure

This product reminds me of the cheap stick on nails i used to get as a child, i haven't used them yet so i can't comment on them but they apparently last up to a week. Hopefully they work, however i wouldn't  re purchase, just because i couldn't force myself to pay £17.40 for a set of fake nails!!

3) Paul Mitchell Quick Slip

'Paul Mitchell - Quick Slip'  I am excited to try this product i love trying new hair products. This is a styling cream, i haven't used anything like this before. It has UV protection in it as well which is great because my hair becomes quite dry in the sun. This sample is 25ml and is really handy to put into my handbag. Original size is £14.24 (150ml).

4) BM Beauty Pure Minerals Eyeshadow

'BM Beauty - Pure Mineral Eyeshadow' packaging is a let down and although its bare minerals it doesn't look like a luxury brand due to the packaging which is the whole idea of the Glossy Box subscription. The product is cruelty free and suitable for vegans and vegetarians. It reminds me of the Barry M dazzle dusts. They formulation is really soft and smooth to apply. Be careful because it can be a tad messy. The pigmentation is brilliant as well. £7.00 for 2g the sample in the glossy box is 1g.

5) Como Shambala Invigorate Shower Gel

'Como Shambhala - Invigorate shower gel'  This is probably the most boring product in the entire box and the most expensive one in there at £20.00 (300ml). The scent is eucalyptus, geranium, lavender and peppermint. Its such an overpowering scent as you can imagine. It smells very similar to original source mint and tea tree shower gel and the original source is cheaper!!

I will let you know what happens on the 24th with Glossy Box, keep checking back for more reviews, OOTW and Glossy Boxes

Crown Brush Set

I am terribly sorry that i haven't blogged in almost a week but i haven't had the chance,  I have recently been offered an internship with Bauermedia. So this week i have been too-ing and fro-ing from London and i am now taking a chilled weekend away at my Uncles in Cambridgeshire.

I have been after some new brushes for a while, everyone has suggested MAC brushes but i wanted to try and find something new and a little bit more in my price range. Ive never really been that interested in MAC mainly because there isn't a shop near me to test out. So when i was recommended Crown brushes i thought i would give them ago. That's when i was brought the 606 16 piece professional set of brushes. At £39.47 you can't complain at the price and apparently they are dupes to mac brushes. Not only can you buy the brushes in sets or single as well as synthetic and real but also they come individual which is great when you need to replace them. You can also buy eyeshadow pallets, brush cleanser, concealer pallets and if you really want to push the boat out you can have your brushes labelled with your name or logo.

(Set it includes a Deluxe Soft Fan, Chisel Powder, Chisel Blush, Tapered Blush, Deluxe Chisel Fluff, Deluxe Shadow, Flocked Sponge, Oval Fluff, Angle Liner, Chisel Fluff, Brow / Lash Groomer, Sable Liner, Eye shadow, Pro Spoolie, Sable Lip with Cover and a Pointed Smudger)

They arrived within 3 days of purchasing the only downside is the minimum spend on there website is £15.00 which is a pain when you want to buy one item. But i will cross that bridge when i come to it. Down to the product they come in a leatherine case, it is so lightweight you can carry it around in your handbag with no problem at all. The brushes are a such a good quality, uber soft and they don't shed. I am really pleased with my purchase!, i will definatley going to re-purchase.

Sleek Polish & Palettes

I recently purchased some sleek makeup I've wanted some for ages. It's such a great makeup range, affordable and really good quality. So you can imagine how happy i was when i went to the post office to collect them!

(Poison Ivy)

I purchased a new nail varnish, just because i feel like i don't have much variety. I have loads of shades of pinks, reds and browns but thats about it. So i brought this gorgeous metallic bluey green colour! For £3.89 you can't complain as it is super fast at drying which is great for me always rushing around and just the one coat gives complete coverage. I am definitely going to purchase other colours. This is in shade Poison Ivy.

'Me, Myself & Eye'
(From left to right Barry White, Black Box, Salt'N'Peppermint, Simply Red, Pink Beret, Primal Green, Fade To Grey, Blue Monday, Supernova, Chris De Burgundy, Lilac Allen and Golden Silvers)

I sneakily brought 3 new eyeshadow palette as well. I brought the new 'Me, Myself & Eye' palette which has colours right on trend for spring coming up also with a contrast of dark colours to give an edgy look to the feminine silhouettes seen this spring/summer I really like this palette as it not only gives you colours for spring/summer but a day and night contrast. this is also an ideal size to pop in your bag. at £6.49 these are definitely a bargain.

'Bad Girl'
(From left to right Innocence, Gullible, Blade, Gun Metal, Underground, Noir, Intoxicated, Envy, Obnoxious, Abyss, Twilight, Rebel)

Moving onto my favourite of the three pallets i brought 'Bad Girl' i am absolutely in love with this palette! the colours are perfect for me on a night out as i am in love with dark smokey eyes!. They are some pearlescent and matte shades which is also a bonus a definite night time eyeshadow pallet. again for £6.49 you are really finding a bargain! the formulation is really long-lasting so there in no need to reapply throughout the night or day.

'Oh, So Special'
(From left to right Bow, Organza, Ribbon, Gift Basket, Glitz, Celebrate, Pamper, Gateau, The Mail, Boxed, Wrapped Up, Noir)

The next pallet is 'Oh So Special' this pallet is a must for every women. This is the sort of eyeshadow that suits everyone no matter what skin complexion you have. I have olive skin and green eyes so the purple and browns really make my eyes stand out. Another perfect pallet for everyone to use day and night. £6.49

Sleek makeup has really stood out to me and i will be purchasing from them again. The nail polishes are amazing and so cheap. The same goes for the palletes you can't complain at the price all the eyeshadows are so pigmented which you can tell from the swatched photographs and they are long lasting. If you go onto the website here you can find a pallet to suit you ranging from matte to pearlescent colours. Definitely a 10/10 from me!

Twilight Hues

AVON - Super Shock Gel Eyeliner Pencil & True Colour Eyeshadow Quad

I recently brought the super shock gel eyeliner pencil in blackberry and the true colour eyeshadow quad in the colour set mystery. As usual avon makeup usually comes in a sleek black box which makes it certainly look expensive. I am impressed with the products packaging especially the quad pallet i love the colours on the front.

Down to the actual products, i am impressed with the gel eyeliner especially with the colour its a real dark purple, i also like the application of it. It glides on nicely the only down side is it has a big tip so it can be quite tricky when trying to do a winged liner because you can't get the precision.. all in all i give this product a 7/10.

The quad pallet has such beautiful colours and they really go well with each other. You get a standard eyeshadow applicator with it which i won't use but it does the job. So i applied the eyeshadow with my eyeshadow blending brush from E.l.F. The good thing about this product is you can either use the eyeshadows as you please or all together and it gives you instructions on the back of the black packaging to how you can apply them all together which is what i followed. I am really impressed with this pallet and its right on trend with the spring season coming up. The only downside if i would of preferred the colours to be more pigmented but apart from that i give this product an 8/10.

Forever Living

Forever Living Products

Forever is not only an online shop but they also have representatives for the company who do launch party's all over the globe so you can get recommendations of the product before you buy. A friend of mine is a new representative for the company and asked if i would review some products for her and blog about them so here we go.

1) Aloe Liquid Soap

"Aloe Liquid Soap is a rich, pearlescent, moisturising hand and face cleanser with a generous amount of aloe. It creates a luxurious lather, leaving the skin feeling clean, smooth and silky, while minimising the irritations experienced with some bar soaps. Its “no tears” formula also makes Aloe Liquid Soap an ideal shampoo for children and adults alike."

i was a little wary to try out this product because of my sensitive skin, but reading that it was made with natural Aloe Vera products made me give it ago. It is probably the best soap/ face wash i have ever used. I took my makeup of using this and after washing it off every last bit of the makeup was removed from my face and was in the water in the sink (gross i know). Not only did it cleanse my face but it left my face feeling like a babies bottom! it is kind to all skin types because of the natural products but for £10.54 for 473ml it is defiantly worth it!

2) Forever Bright Toothgel

"Aloe Vera has long been treasured for its quality and versatility - including dental care. Your teeth will gleam with Forever Bright, one of the best toothgels on the market. Formulated for the entire family to use, Forever Bright contains only the highest quality ingredients. It is also suitable for vegetarians since it contains no animal by-products. Natural peppermint and spearmint flavourings leave your mouth feeling fresh and clean."

The tooth gel has antibacterial properties for fighting plaque, suitable for vegetarians because it contains no animal by products and it also contains no fluoride, which most tooth pastes contain. Looks a bit weird when first seeing it because its a bright green gel not a paste. I have used this tooth paste twice now and it really does do what it says on the tin. The taste is nice and minty fresh and doesn't leave that horrible after taste of some tooth pastes. Even when drinking some drinks like coca cola, it prevents that fuzzy feeling on your teeth and keeps your teeth feeling clean all day long. After the small amount of time using the tooth gel you can definitely notice the natural white of your teeth looking brighter. The only downside is the price £5.57 which seems a lot for a toothpaste but it is again worth every penny.

3) Aloe Ever-Shield Deodorant Stick

"When the temperature is rising and the pressure is on, it is a real confidence-booster to maintain that fresh feeling from the start of the day. Aloe Ever-Shield® Deodorant Stick provides effective, all-day protection against underarm odour, and can be applied directly after showering or waxing without stinging. Aloe Ever-Shield glides on smoothly, does not stain clothes, and maximises the deodorant properties of aloe Vera while eliminating ingredients that could be harmful to your health."

The best thing about this product is the deodorant doesn't contain any harmful chemicals such as aluminium salts which can affect your central nervous system after prolonged use. I was thinking about changing from a spray form to a roll on but roll on deodorants just don't give me enough protection throughout the day so i am quite happy to try this out. It glides on so smoothly and doesn't irritate my underarms especially after shaving. the scent isn't overpowering so it is discreet. Down to if the product works?, yes it does i wouldn't say its a cure to not having sweaty armpits, but it does a satisfactory job better than most spray/roll ons. It costs £5.92 for 92.1g but that will last you a good month.

4) Aloe-Jojoba Shampoo

"Your family’s hair will be shiny, soft and manageable with this pH-balanced, pure aloe formula. Stabilised aloe Vera gel benefits not only your hair, but your scalp as well. The gel’s properties make it a natural alternative to other shampoos, while its gentle, concentrated formula makes it suitable for all hair types.
Helping to maintain healthy hair and scalp, its enzymatic activity sloughs off dead cells. With the added benefits of stabilised aloe Vera gel:
  • Strengthens with aloe amino acids, fortifying the amino acids in hair follicles and papillae.
  • It supplies saponins and natural sudsing agents to fortify hair and give it body.
Jojoba Oil, another important ingredient, is an excellent lubricant that has been used in hair care formulas for years. It replenishes lost moisture to both skin and hair. It adds more body while removing hardened sebum from the hair, and fortifies the hair shaft and ends. This naturally allows you to comb through the tangles of wet or dry hair, without leaving a dry, fly-away appearance."

I really enjoy testing out new hair products and finding the ones that make the difference. The shampoo gets rid of the dirt and grime from everyday life, gives your hair a deep cleanse. The natural products in it mean that it is suitable for all types which is good news especially if the whole family are using the same product. The only downside for me is the lack of smell, don't get me wrong it makes your hair smell clean, but i like my hair smelling fruity or something similar. The reasoning behind this is because all the ingredients are natural and there are no artificial fragrance enhancers. It costs £13.72 for 296ml

5) Aloe-Jojoba Conditioning Rinse

"Forever Living Products Aloe-Jojoba Conditioning Rinse enriched formula with Vitamin B Complex and Hydrolyzed Protein has extra moisturising power to leave your hair soft, shiny and manageable.
Designed to be used after our Aloe-Jojoba Shampoo, we have created an Aloe-Jojoba Conditioning Rinse that cares gently and effectively for your hair. The unique combination of stabilised aloe Vera gel and jojoba, an agent to remove electrostatic charges, conditions the hair to give it a feeling of freshness and a look of silky elegance. So give your hair that salon look and feel with the pH-balanced conditioning treatment of Aloe-Jojoba Conditioning Rinse!"

I used this after shampooing my hair with Aloe-Jojoba Shampoo. I used a small amount to truly test out the product and after massaging it into my hair i left it in for around 2 minutes. Even when washing it out you can already tell the difference. When drying it left my hair smooth shiny, you can always tell when your using a more expensive brand of conditioner because it doesn't make your hair 'fly away' or frizzy and it makes your hair look like the 'second day' when using normal conditioner. it costs again £13.72 for 296ml.

I also found out that all the products forever living sell have a 60 day money back guarantee so if you have used it and you are not satisfied you can get your money back. There are so many more products to see click here for the website. there are such like supplements to drink, cosmetics, perfume etc etc the list goes on.

If you are interested is buying or you just want to know a little bit more about what these products or any other products forever living have to offer then get in contact with my representative Imogen her email address is immy19@hotmail.co.uk

Four step kit

1) Restorative Hair Treatment

This product is my favourite out of the four & for an added bonus it smells divine. Just like dark chocolate and honey.
=when trying to get the product out i found it really tricky as the substance was so hard, so i recommend you put it on top of the radiator for a minute or two to soften it up, afterwards they say to use one to one and a half scoops but with my short hair 1 scoop was fine. You then need to rub the product in between your hands until it turns into an oil then apply to your hair. do this until your hair is completely saturated (be warned your hair will look very greasy). Massage this into your head for around two minutes apparently this stimulates the hair follicles and scalp allowing the oil to penetrate. Comb through and leave on your hair for 20 mins, the dryer your hair the longer you need.

2) Shampoo

Washing it out with the stampoo i was a little bit disappointed with the shampoo. Just because it was in a 4 piece hair ritual so i assumed it would get the oil out of my hair easier than it did, i shampooed my hair twice to finally get the oil out. As well the shampoo kind of lacks fragrance.

3) Conditioner

As far as the smell goes it doesn't. But it is easily one of the best conditioners i have used in a long time. I just used a little bit of the conditioner and massaged it into my hair and straight away you can feel the difference. oh that feeling of clean hair!!

4) Hydrating smoothing cream

finally i have found a hair moisturising cream that doesn't make your hair look like it needs a wash again.. Apply a small amount to damp hair, making sure most of your hair is covered with it and then either blow dry or allow to air dry. The best thing about this moisturiser is that it stops your hair becoming frizzy if blown dry. It gives you the shine and sleekness to your hair afterwards

Overall: i am very impressed with the products the only shame is i would like all the products to smell like the oil. Even just after one use i can already feel the difference on my hair. Using all four products is the recommended way but just buying that oil or moisturiser on its own would work with any other type of products. Using all four of them definatley gives my hair that 'the day after washing hair' look. I am almost certain i will be buying these products again thumbs up from me!
